Lone Tree Expansion to Feature Wide Variety of Housing Opportunities, Retail and Medical Space, Parks and Trails

The City of Lone Tree in Douglas County, one of the most desirable communities in metro Denver, is scheduled for a masterful expansion of Lone Tree’s RidgeGate property along the west and east sides of I-25 that is expected to double the size of the community in the decades to come. However, a trio of housing developments is expected to be announced in the coming months, with groundbreaking tentatively scheduled for early next year.

The vision for RidgeGate includes RDT’s 2.3-mile Southeast Rail Extension to three train stops at the far southern end of the transit authority’s rail system and as many as 10,000 new single-family homes, condominiums, and townhomes, providing excellent housing opportunities for those seeking to upgrade to a newer and larger single-family home, and others seeking to downsize to a low-maintenance lifestyle in a community that offers some of the most exceptional amenities in all of metro Denver.

The RidgeGate plan includes up to 12 million square feet of office, retail, and medical space, plus a trio of district residential “villages.” Future residents will enjoy more than 600 acres of parks, trail, and wildlife habitat, in addition to 145 acres of land dedicated to schools and civic facilities, including a new Lone Tree civic center.

A 400-acre “urban core” project is planned with walkable blocks of retail and housing that will serve as the city’s “downtown.” A current focus is widening RidgeGate Parkway, the main arterial road through the area, from two lanes to six. The vision also includes another 1,300 parking spaces for light rail riders from throughout the metro area’s southern region.

Lone Tree offers an exciting lifestyle that includes an 18-hole championship golf course designed by the legendary Arnold Palmer, a gorgeous center for the performing arts, a beautiful and very spacious library, and a recreation center showcasing all the bells and whistles. The community includes swimming pools, playgrounds, and tennis courts, plus excellent dining and shopping opportunities, including the Park Meadows Mall “Retail Resort.”

For prospective home buyers and current homeowners who have plans to make a change down the road in two or three years, it’s probably a good idea to keep an eye on the progress of the first planned residential development in RidgeGate. Lone Tree is a great place to live and the future is very bright indeed.
